Who can apply for the AT&T Aspire Accelerator?

The Aspire Accelerator is open to non-profits and for-profit companies of any size. The minimum requirements to participate are:

  • Working on a product or service that uses technology to support students’ educational and/or career success
  • Has a minimum viable product and some proof of product-market fit
  • Has a least one technical founder or team member who will participate in the Aspire Accelerator

How are teams selected?

The Aspire Accelerator team will review applications and invite finalists to interview with the selection committee. Teams will be selected based on their ability to create and scale exponential change in education that will empower educational and/or career success. In addition, an ability to reach and/or impact at-risk students will be strongly considered.

What does it mean to participate in the Aspire Accelerator?

Participating teams will receive an investment of $100,000 (or an Aspire investment of $100,000, as described below, in the case of non-profit companies), an additional $25,000 to cover program expenses, access to AT&T leaders and Aspire partners in education and technology, and personalized mentorship. Participating companies will attend up to 5 in -person session (including kickoff and graduation) and will have regular meetings - mostly remote - with the  Accelerator team and Entrepreneur in Residence.

Can my company be too early or too late-stage to participate?

No, the Aspire Accelerator is open to any sized or aged organizations, for or non-profit, as long as it is focused on EdTech and has at least a minimum viable product.

You can still participate in the Aspire Accelerator.

I am a non-profit – can I participate?

Yes – the Aspire Accelerator is open to any venture, organization or company that is using technology to foster student success. Non-profits ventures will receive the $100,000 Aspire investment in the form of a general contribution in exchange for participating in Aspire Accelerator and meeting certain requirements including submitting impact measurements.

How do I apply?

Interested ventures can complete the application here between January 10 and February 7. We will inform all applicants of their status in April.

Where is the Aspire Accelerator based? Do I have to move?

The Aspire Accelerator is based in San Francisco, but participating organizations can be based anywhere in the United States. In-person events will be held up to five times throughout the program.

How much funding do I receive if I am selected?

Selected organizations will receive a $100,000 investment (or an Aspire investment of $100,000, as described below, in the case of non-profit companies) and an additional $25,000 to cover program expenses. For participating for-profit companies the $100,000 Aspire investment is in return for up to 5% equity. Non-profit participants will receive a general contribution in exchange for participating in the Aspire Accelerator and meeting certain requirements including submitting impact measurements.

Does participating in the Aspire Accelerator guarantee companies a business deal with AT&T?

No. Participating organizations will receive an Aspire investment and mentorship from AT&T and external leaders. There is no guarantee of any business agreement other than the ones required to participate in the Aspire Accelerator.

How is AT&T connected to the Aspire Accelerator?

Education has been AT&T’s priority for over a century, and AT&T Aspire is AT&T’s signature education initiative focused on high school success and workforce readiness. The Aspire Accelerator is a part of this broader education initiative, and companies participating in the Accelerator will have access to AT&T mentors and opportunities for collaboration.

AT&T is committed to fostering solutions that lead to high school success and workforce readiness, especially for students at-risk of not graduating high school. The goal of the Accelerator is to foster the Education Technology ecosystem and support innovative new products and services in education. The Accelerator program is built around supporting this mission.

Does the AT&T Aspire Accelerator accept international companies?

The Aspire Accelerator is only accepting US companies for participation at this time. Applicants do not have to be incorporated or legally organized to apply, but must be incorporated or legally organized in the US within two weeks of being notified that they have been selected.
